so it’s easy to tell that a vast majority of ppl here are SONY whore, so tell us what sony product can you not live without besides your TR?
I guess i’ll start out: well since i’m a student and have a retardly low income, my most used sony product is actually a couple years old. it’s a sony surround sound system (str-se501) i bought on ebay for like under 200 bucks. it’s not the loudest system on the market, but the 500 watts is plenty for the 10ft by 12ft hole i call my room. i can’t live without my system because i tend to watch a lot of movies in order to procrastinate from studying, and a movie just isn’t a movie without some type of sound system.
I for one, am NOT a sony whore. I actually hate most sony products because they are all overpriced and inferior to the competition. Example: PS2. I bought my friends ps2 just to break it. I REALLY hate ps2. I have two Xboxs though (and two tv’s in my room… 50” and 27”). I also hate Sony PDAs. Well… I hate Palm. If Sony made a Windows Mobile pda I would consider.
The TR is the first Sony product I’m really interested in. I hope to get one soon
Well, lets see. 1) For pure product design, Sony and Apple have my $$$, however, Apple does have a better design than Sony in some portions, read, (iPod, mini iPod, & Computer monitors) however, Sony has the edge (in my eyes) when it comes to the TR and some other computer hardware. Apple’s OS is pure B$, and while I realize that Sony cannot claim credit for Windows, at least it has the option of installing other OSs like Linux and *nix. ++, Sony, like Apple, is also absurdly overpriced, with me paying 500 for a DVD-RW, whereas a similar model, sold under another competitor can cost me maybe 200-300 max. But definitely, I love Sony Design, which really takes the cake compared to all other PCs. So for the msot part, it comes to how much do I really want to pay more for good design. The one product that I absolutely cannot live without is my TR3AP+, most definitely, but, my other babies, are definitely lifesavers, a pair of beat up 3 year old MDR-700DJs Headphones, which, while absurdly large, silver, and responsible for causing my ears to sweat, have the sweetest sound and tone ever (except for the 900s, but those are a grip more expensive). As for those…my 17 year old SonY Cassette/AMFM walkman from my da still works, so that’s taken out every so often when I want to listen to the ole’ Bach cassette. My PS2 Sees some action, but that’s more of my brother’s deal, as I prefer computer death over console death. Go Sony. You r4wk my world once more.

I’m not a Sony wh0r3 (it’s bad for the wallet), but I do buy their products when they manage to get things done (mostly) right.
 CLIE S320 PDA: best feature set for the money when I bought it, but the cheap paint is easily abraded.
 MDR-EX71SL earbuds: a bit weak in the mids, but much easier to use than Koss’s “The Plug”.
 DNE-510 portable MP3/ATRAC3/CD player: use it solely in my car and love the dedicated folder skip buttons, but hate the @#$% FF/Rew/Stop/Play control pad.
 And, of course, the TR2AP notebook: love the form factor and screen, but hate the port covers, port placement, and price premium.
I don’t think I’d die of I lost any of them, but I would be very inconvenienced if I had to give up my MDR-EX71SL. Headphone hair ... be gone!
Sony TR1 Laptop
Sony CK5T Case
Sony T1 DigiCam
Sony 512 MB Memory Stick Duo
Sony TH55 PDA
Sony 1 GB Memory Stick
Sony HC40 VidCam
Sony NC10 Noise-Cancelling Earphones
no tv (no desire for it, nor time)
Awaiting my sentencing…
I think, since most of us are obviously tech heads and spend a lot of time around our electronic toys, that we prefer something with nice design, as opposed to the generic no-name laptop.
Big time here too….but I did not like the “whore” term….
I do not want to be worst one

So as you see…. it is pretty bad…. but with all the uptech above the house is extremely smart.
well the only other one I can think of is ‘sony sucker’ which is definately not good… not when I’m working my way up the sony tree with a tr2, p900, mz-n1, mdr-g52 (headphones) and some old portable cd player somewhere in a drawer… oh and my telly downstairs!! Oh and the stereo I gave my parents…. Scarey when I think about it really… maybe I am a sucker for sony, but then i don’t care because I like it!!

How about the following:
Sony Zealot
Sony Freak
Sony Slave…(probably most appropriate)
I’d actually find “slave” more objectionable than “whore” given the choice. “Sony whore” has a sense of knowing, yet penitent self-deprecation. It’s pretty hard to change slang after the fact though.
I am staying out of this one…(maybe not) None of the terms are offensive when taken in the light-hearted, self-deprecating ways they are intended. Don’t get too wrapped up in the details and enjoy the general mood of the threads. I have found virtually every contributor to this board to be gracious and helpful. I don’t think any malice is intended by any of the participants here.
I know there is no harm intended. Just thought I would see what else we could throw around to describe our desolate addiction to Sony products. We could even start our own rehab:
