Just saw that, had the wrong thing checked when I searched.  Can I assume that the Sony part # 182726621 is the right length?  Otherwise I can order the 500mm digikey one.

It’s most likely the right part…if you can avoid the 500mm then please do as it’s extremely long. 50cm…is nearly 20 inches.

How does the kcap program work?  I have put the kcap executable in the same directory as the SONY.PAC file and am opening a command prompt and typing in: kcap SONY.PAC c:\temp   I get a couple of flashes of the hard drive light but nothing shows up in c:\temp.

have you noticed if there are any signal quality issues for WiFi when the Bluetooth adapter is active ? 

The installation went through with no issues (THANK YOU!!)  and it took about 25 min.  Got to love straight forward instructions.

I haven’t seen any drop in connection quality so I think it’s probably negligible. I have noticed that it can lower the battery life faster than normal. I don’t think it’s major but probably noticeable. I’m going to have to run some tests on that in the future. I normally only need 5-6 hours of battery life and it definitely lasts that long (on extended battery). I just like quickly synching my phone and getting a connection.

I thought my module wouldnt be here for another week, but it came today.  I had a little brown box at the door when I got home today.  I ordered my module on the 29th of March and it came today.  I took my chances and got it directly from Sony, even though my email verificaion said it was a 60 day backorder.  I got it in less than two weeks.

I too got stuck with the longer cable, but it didnt seem like a big deal.  I went ahead and placed an order yesterday for the cable from Sony same as the module.  The website said it was not in stock, but my email verification said it was.  Well see.

I originally ordered the long cable from digikey so that I would have the cable when the module came in.  I sort of jumped the gun.  I should have just ordered it from Sony.

At any rate, the upgrade was a snap.  Ive already done the Netegriti 80211.a/b/g/ card and the DVDRW as well.  So, by now I didnt really need the upgrade article, save for the kcap stuff.

On a side note, I had been using the Sony BT dongle but now ive affixed it inside my RZ36G desktop on a USB2 expansion card internal slot.  Now Ive got bluetooth on both TR and my Sony Desktop. 

I also use the HP DJ450 with bluetooth module along with my Sony Ericsson T610.  This is turning out to be a great setup.

My MS Bluetooth mouse should be here Monday.

My next wish is the P900 (phone, pda, mp3, camera)

I got tired of waiting for the cable from DigiKey and ordered one from Sony (DAPC) and it will be here on 04-13 (2 day shipping).  If anyone wants one, they are apparently in stock at Sony now.

What a surprise to see two boxes when I got home from out of town.  Ordered the stuff last Monday.  Received an email stating that it was on backorder.

One thing of note on your setup instructions.
After step 5 of the Software Installation, you only get the “Bluetooth Radios” in the system information.  The “Bluetooth VCOMM Port” doesn’t appear until after the VCOMM software is installed after step 6.

Did anyone figure out the part number for the front panel which shows the Bluetooth logo over the blue light?

Have you tried HotSyncing your PDA with your internal BT install?  I have a Japanese TR-1 but have never been able to get my US Clie to BT HotSync with it using the TR1’s internal BT.  Japanese support says this is an issue of trying to use a US Clie with a a Japanese TR1 but I’m running a US XP Home install from Dynamism and I’m not sure why.  BT dongle, WiFi and USB sync all work fine, just not internal BT….seems to be an issue with VCOMM emulation.

I’ve joined the ranks of the “Bluetooth Capable”.  I just got my cable from Sony and installed it and the BT module.  Success!  Everything worked as advertised.  I love that little blue light (not to mention the connectivity enhancements).  Thank you again gr00vy0ne.

Well I wasnt surprised to see my Friday order from Sony arrive at my office this afternoon (Monday), after reading everyone elses prompt deliveries.  So I got to work on my lunch hour.  Install went smooth, gr00vy0ne’s incredible instructions were crucial to this.  Even the software install was described!  I did panic a bit after removing the hard driver and the DVD drive and not seeing the “daughterboard” anywhere in site, I thought I had a later model TR without the daughterboard.  Well I finally figured out it was on the back side of the top plastic, Doh.

Everything installed well.  I seem to have different build of Bluespace NE though, it doesnt seem to want to work with my BT500 mouse.  My version is 3.1.00.04240.  It sees my mouse, but then the only option is to authenticate, and the mouse does not work with authentication.  When I try and discover services on the mouse none come up, when I should see the HID service/profile.

I use the BT500 w/o any trouble when you need to authenticate it use 0000.

Then you will need to right click on the BT500 device and select connect “mouse/keyboard”. Goto the services tab and check “Drivers for mouse/keyboard”

All should work after that.
