Amazing job on the internal bluetooth upgrade! What a fantastic mod.

I had a question - on the Japanese TR’s, is there a little “bluetooth” icon on the faceplate? I remember someone in the previous thread mentioned the possibility of ordering the replacement faceplate from Japan, and that’s the only reason that I can think of.

I’m assuming that the only difference would be a tiny bluetooth logo in between the “wireless LAN” and “memory stick” logos (which gets illuminated by the blue light).

Does anyone have a picture of the Japanese faceplate? Is it totally nutty to think it would be worth ordering in order to TRULY complete the package?

Yeah, the Japanese and Euro models have the Bluetooth icon on the front plate. Amusingly enough, I found this image on Sony’s US site.

Really love to have this internal BT.  If SpareParts Warehouse don’t ship, can anyone here help me out?

You may want to check for a Sony Service centre in Singapore. I’m sure there must be one or authorized service centres. You should be able to order the same part number as one of those places. It might be expensive to have the part shipped to you internationally. Perhaps you can ask some local vendors about the places to call.

hey alvino, i am from singapore too…. after u had ordered, can u give me directions on how to order? and maybe we can try to install it together, i am not very good with computers.

Thanks for the suggestion, but i doubt local Sony service centre will provide such services. 

Nevertheless, will try calling them to check.

We just need to figure out what the part number is. So, if we can get a hold of a TR1MP/TR2MP or Japanese TR service manual then we can see if we can source the part.

I know it costs around $15.95 for the replacement part in the US machines. Specifically, for TR1s it’s X46261634 and for TR2s and above it’s X46261635. Neither of these two have the logo on it.

Personally, I don’t think it’s too big of a deal…i sort of like the “nameless” blue light.

Haha…yeah. I’m sure you all are pretty aware that just because I don’t think it’s a big it doesn’t mean I won’t still research it and do it….just for the sake of doing it. 

It will be more of a challenge compared to the Bluetooth module which was an internal “universal” part. The part we yanks want is specific to the Japanese and UK markets so it’s unlikely local parts or service centers in the US would have it. Of course, you never know…

I triple dog dare and UK TR1MP or TR2MP owner to call Sony UK, purchase a service manual (maybe £10-15) and find out the part number for the LED bezel!

I could have sworn i saw a japenese tr1 manual somewhere online… let me look.

Nope, I only found the american/canadian tr1 manual. sorry.

So ... is there a list of profiles the internal module supports?  Specifically, does it support HID?  It would be sooo nice to be able to just carry the TR in one hand and a small mouse in my pocket.  OK, so that’s a weird image, but I find it handy…
