[quote author=“VAIO Jet”]I use Trend Micro PC-Cilln and I am very hapy with it. I also use AdAware.
Me too. Ad-aware is a great product and I love PC-Cillan. I absolutely hate Norton. I did everything I could to extract Norton from the system (insidious pre-installed trialware that was never activated or run) but I suspect there are vestiges still interfering, particularly with regard to email spam filters. I use Eudora 6.0 paid which has it’s own anti-spam but no spam ever appears in the junk mail box. I have Eudora on my Powerbook and it catches all sorts of junk (I have email configured to be left on server for 1 day so I can download mail to on both. They are on different schedules so sometimes the Vaio gets mail before the PB and vice versa so even if Eudora is set to remove spam from server, Vaio should still get some at least some of the time) (not that I want any more spam, I just want all evidence of Norton GONE.)
I wish someone would devise a true Nuke Norton Eradicator to blast this damned processor-sucking bloatware out of every hidden file and every single of the many registry entries it pollutes. (Heaven forbid some Norton fan goes through the considerable trouble to remove Norton and reinstall as a bypass for paying for the precious updates.)
Thumbs up to Trend Micro. Their webpage is helpful, customer support is great and even better, I only had to contact them once after almost two uneventful years running it. And, at the height of the Blaster issue I could see the program updating files almost hourly. Kept the system clean and happy.
