Sorry I can’t find the thread that introduced me to this program. I wanted to say thank you to whoever found it. I have just reinstalled Win xp on 3 computers and auoptacher made the whole thing a doddle.
Warning though,
you do have to select which patches etc you want to install, and i thought it would do it automatically, anyway i hadn’t bothered with the blaster patch and went online, ugh i got blasted!!!!!!!
Check it out anyone who reguarly updates or loads windows onto new machines it is a must.

That would have been me. I’m glad you liked it, I also do a lot of reinstalling of machines and I find it a god send. Your right you need to pick the options you do and don’t want but you can save your selections so you don’t have to keep doing it over and over.

When Microsoft Releases Windows XP SP2 then it’ll cut down the amount of patching required. Is it me though or is the SP release schedule far too slow for XP? I’d much prefer to have say 2 SP packs a year or maybe even 4 just to make the amount of patching required on fresh installs much less. Also OEM’s rarely put on patches from Windows Update, unless of course for obvious thinks like the Blaster worm. But they all install Service Packs.

I haven’t used Autopatcher before and would like to give it a try…. A bit confused here…  :wink: What do you mean I have to select what I want to install? Do you mean when I run the Autopatcher, there is a list of selection to let me select those update I wish to install (include the Blaster path??)? OR, do you mean I have to choose which Autopatcher file I have to download when downloading the Autopatcher from their website?

By the way, I will receive my new TR2MP on this Friday…  :D Really excited and can’t wait…hehe… 8)  Will I have the XP Pro with SP1 installed in my new machine? Can I use the Autopatcher to give the XP Pro an update? Will that harm the new machine?

Download the file from the website http://www.autopatcher.com/Index.htm
and then run autopatcher and make sure you open all the + signs so you can select which patches etc you want. I am not sure whether I would recommend installing the tweak Ui as it does run some annoying tricks. Buts that is just personnal.
When you run your new pc it will need a lot of updates, SP2 hasn’t been released yet. If you are in any doubt run windows update and let that do it for you. Make sure you have installed the blaster patch before you go online though. (I got a copy of it with my TR1.)
The great use for this program is when you have to set a up a lot of new machines or if you are still connected (like I am) to a 56k modem running 26k). I got a friend with a braodband connection to donwload autopatcher for me.

Update Rollup 1 for Microsoft Windows XP (KB826939) under critical patches. Is the blaster patch. in Autopatcher.
