Hi, new forum member here. I just recently busted one of the speakers on my tr2a. I searched the forum and could not find any info on replacing the speakers. If anyone could point me in the right direction as to what part number I need to order and also how to disassemble the screen(looks pretty straight forward but a walk though always helps). Any help would be much appreciated. By the way, I love the sight and am very appreciative for what all the members have contributed so far.

I have some and can send you a couple for small cost, but I’m in the UK so postage may cost a bit. getting to the speakers is pretty simple as long as you are carefully and not impatient / clumsy natured.

I found the speakers used on the web for about $20USD shipped to me. I also found new ones for about 30 USD shipped. I doubt it would be worth having to pay shipping from UK to Texas, although I do appreciate the offer. I seem to be having trouble getting the bottom part of the screen plastic casing off. Does anyone know of more info, possibly on a different upgrade/repair that would include this information? Thanks in advance.

No problem and it’s less hassle for me anyway as I’m always time limited.. just I’ve always got spares is all.

You have to remove all six screws one in each corner under rubber bungs and two centre bottom under shaped bungs. Trim then unclips if you carefully pull it from the inside edge (screen side outwards).

The only area that can take a while is around the switches because there is some double sided tape in that area, sustained gentle pulling is all that’s required. Make sure laptop lid is almost fully open to help get the bottom area unclipped.

It does come off very easily, but is hard to explain in text. just perceiver carefully don’t try levering it with tools on outside edge, fingers are all you need I open them up all the time to replace broken screens, and it’s much safer than using tools near the delicate easily scratched screen ......
