I was looking through Sony Style and saw the SRS-T77 speakers and decided to give them a try. They cost me about $90.

The kit includes the speakers, an A/C adapter, and a carrying case.

The A/C adapter is supposed to be worldwide which is good I guess, I really don’t need it for that reason. I do like that the prongs fold into the device to make it a bit slimmer.

The Speakers themselves fold into a square but open to a Mickey Mouse sort of configuration. When opened up the speakers are about the exact size of the TR’s screen…

They can be powered by batteries or the included A/C adapter. I plugged in the speakers to my headphone port on the TR and fired up a few Mp3’s. The sound was clear and loud, I head bass, but it still felt a bit flat. I was about to give them a weak review when I unplugged them and listened to the built in speakers for a minute. Wow, what a difference. It’s night and day. The T77’s make a big difference.

Overall I was a bit dissapointed at first at the lack of deep bass but after re-listening to the internal speakers I can say that it’s worth the money for the upgrade. I didn’t consider large speakers as an option because I like everything for my TR to be small. This is a decent trade-off, size for sound quality.

do u have to open up the speaker to use? or u could just leave folded.

You can leave it folded but the stand would be backwards. There is a small stand at the bottom the opens up to keep the speakers standing upright and at a slight upward angle. If you didn’t unfold the speakers they would be facing downward a bit and you’d need to face the unit backwards and you’d see the stand.
