Got a problem with my SZ. The sound doesn’t work and when I go into the Device Manager it says “This device cannot start (code 10)”. I have tried to update and downgrade the drivers, but none of that seems to help.  Anyone have any thoughts? I was also thinking about changing the ANL-66 board but wanted more information before I moved forward.

I think this is driver issue. Do you hear animated VAIO logo sound when you turn on the laptop?

No sound during the vaio animation unfortunately. Any suggestion as to which drivers I should use?  Currently I have the STDAUD-01108005-US installed which is the latest available for this model.  The STDAUD-01108002-US doesnt seem to want to work either. I know there are higher versions for the later SZ’s but I can’t seem to get those to work either, it says its not suitable for my computer or something.

If there no sound at VAIO animation, your sound card is probably dead.
If warranty is still available, send it or you have to order replacement or look for parts on ebay.
Anyway, you should open it up to check the cables in card and out to speakers.
