I love my TR but cannot afford a new screen.  Does anybody have a TR for parts that still has the LCD in tact that I can use?  Or any links where to get a cheaper LCD screen?  I will try to replace the screen if I could get one a bit cheaper.  This was a gift from my husband and really love it.  I tried to sell it on ebay but I wanted to get at least around $500 for it.  If anybody is interested I can let it go for $500 plus shipping and insurance.

hey thanks for the link, that is certainly cheaper.  do you know if anybody here had use this kind?  i just want to make sure it will work even if it is not a sony parts.  i will keep researching here as well.

Unfortunately, the Buy It Now Price is $450, two hundred more than the Averatec LCD screen. I hope others can help you out on if the Averatec LCD will work in your TR, I’m pretty sure it should…..I hope.

I have heard of non-Sony LCDs working in Sony laptops, my hopes are high that that Averatec LCD will work in your TR, can anyone here help out and confirm?

yep i saw that too - but $400 plus is still too much for me right now, it will probably not an issue a few months back but right now it is just too much, but then i don’t want to take the risk of spending non-sony parts that haven’t been confirmed by somebody who had actually use it because i might end up spending twice as much and then it won’t be worth it.

I’m not sure what happened, but I pm’d this nice lady in an attempt to help her out as I too have suffered the broken screen depression before. I happened to have a TR2 sitting here waiting for a mobo at a good price to show up some day. I could feel her pain and decided to help her out by selling her my screen for $275.00. She asked her husband for the ok and we were set. She requested that it be an EBay auction paid by Paypal for our protection.
  I took the time to remove the lcd from the dead TR and installed it into another TR to test it. I then carefully packaged it up, double boxed it, and sealed it up for a safe journey to the new owner. I then created an auction on EBay for her as she told me to do so. I was to email her the link and she would Buy-it-now immediately. I sent her the info and she promptly disappeared. I certainly hope all is well with her family, but I am somewhat dismayed with the whole situation since it has cost me time and money (listing fees) to help this lady out and she has vanished.
  I even awoke early this morning to prepare the package in hopes she had bought it during the night so that I would have the time to address it and send it out before heading out to work at 7am.
  If somebody else on here has purchased her TR or sold her a screen, could you let me know so that I may cancel my auction? I really didn’t want to part with the screen in the first place. I just wanted to help somebody out.

my beloved husband is letting me keep my tr3ap!  i am so happy!  i was ready to sell it because i thought i couldn’t afford a new screen.  bill offered to help.  my husband replaced the screen and my tr is working like a champ again!  i will probably be staying all night moving my files back.  i hate my desktop even if it is a vaio too, i just love my tr because i can take it anywhere.  i am keeping this until i can afford a tr5, which is my ultimate dream.
