After upgrading the Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional operating system, the built-in camera no longer functions.
Follow this procedure to resolve the issue of the built-in camera no longer functioning after upgrading to the Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional operating system.
1. Click the Start button, and then click Control Panel.
2. In the Control Panel window, under Pick a category, double-click the Performance and Maintenance icon.
3. In the Performance and Maintenance window, under or pick a Control Panel icon, double-click the System icon.
4. In the System Properties window, click the Hardware tab.
5. On the Hardware tab, in the Device Manager box, click the Device Manager button.
6. In the Device Manager window, double-click the Universal Serial Bus controllers icon.
7. Click to select the first USB Root Hub.
8. On the menu bar, click Action.
9. On the Action menu, click Properties.
10. In the USB Root Hub Properties window, click the Power tab.
11. On the Power tab, in the Attached devices: box, under Description, ensure Sony Visual Communication Camera… is listed.
NOTE: If the Sony Visual Communication Camera… is not listed, repeat steps 7-11 for each USB Root Hub listed in the Device Manager window.
12. Click the Power Management tab.
13. On the Power Management tab, click to clear the Allow the computer to turn off… box.
