Hmmmm. Too much of a brick to be a PDA, and not big enough to comfortably type on. I’m sure operating a mouse cursor on something like that would be a real pain in the ass. It doesn’t have a touch-screen like the (MIA) OQO device does (will—would?). With the lid LCD, I’m afraid to ask what the battery life will be…

i think i read on the site about a 1 day battery life but i guess they mean standy by.  so not sure on actual use.  i think the thing looks sweet for on the go type stuff.  quick email check, client presentation etc… depends on the $$$  though

I saw “1 day” too. Considering its size and the fact that its power requirements aren’t going to be much different than our TRs, it had better have one amazing battery. I doubt you’ll want to do any presentation work on it. It doesn’t seem to have a video out port on it.

Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s very cool that someone wants to come out with a full-power computer in a handheld (one of my pet peeves with PDAs is the fact that you need a computer handy) but this doesn’t feel right. It’s like someone tried to stuff a Picturebook into a Franklin dictionary and got the worst aspects of both.

i totally understand what your saying!  I am just excited about the fact that one day in the near future we might just have something awesome that is truly handheld.

thumb keyboard sucks big time, this thing is pretty much useless without a touchsceen.

i dont know about useless.  seems like the sweetest pda ever made in my book.  kind blows away anything out there right now!  it really depends on the price to determine whats what. 

how can a palm at this point compare to that.

Some pretty nasty comments even without having taking a look at it. Sadly, but this is how the world goes. Perhaps the real thing is not that bad. I don’t think its useless, it just doesn’t fit some of ya. Some ppl think the TR is useless too…haha. And well, it doesn’t fit me too. I need big screens!

As people who bought a subnotebook, I think we are its target audience. As a PDA and laptop enthusiast, I think I can comment on this device based on its form factor, OS and specs. I’m mainly doubtful about the form factor (just too big to be pocketable) and its battery life, but otherwise, it has the potential to be revolutionary. If I could get a full WinXP system in the form factor of the Sony NX/NZ Clie, I’d be in line waiting for it right now. Like so many bands I know, this could be Really Big in Japan.

Rabbit: I was wrong, there will apparently be a dongle of some kind for VGA and NTSC output. (it just says NTSC, I assume that’s coax) Yikes! Check out this specs sheet and take a look at the battery life. 2-6 hours ... but the 6 hour figure is with the extended battery!  :shock:

I’d rather carry a bit of extra weight and get an X505, which would be a lot more useable than that to me. Otherwise I’d get a top-end PDA. I thought the TR’s screen was packed with pixels, but that model is sitting at 202dpi! My eyes!  :shock:

Has anyone considered the heat it will generate?  Considering that user will actually be holding it on their palms.
