Just received my TR3AP3 today from the States but one or two things are bugging me. I’ve got dust all over the screen and I bought Sony’s cleaning kit, but it just spreads the dust rather than actually pick it up. How the heck do I get it off? LOL! Also, I like in the UK and just tried to install MSN 8 and everything’s fine, but it says there are connection problems when checking my email, address book and calender (all from the server). This is fine on my RZ?! Spoke to MSN who just hung up when they closed :x . Anyway has anyone else experienced this? I’m using the MS MN-700 router on a BT Broadband 1mb connection and Norton has been configured to accept the network and Internet access? So…can anyone help me…PLEASE !

You can just a dab of water with the Sony cloth to pickup the dust. Or, you can use a mild screen cleaner like Klearscreen with the same Sony cloth. Klearscreen also has some anti-static properties so it should last a little longer in between cleanings.

Unless you have a public IP address range given to you by your Internet provider which most won’t without asking then there isn’t much point running a firewall on your laptop for use with that connection.

You’ll be behind a NAT firewall because of your router, only outgoing connections work, not incoming. I’d try turning Norton off (Leave the Antivirus running of course) and then try again.

Thanks both of you, but with regard to Fastlane, MSN seems to work 100% on my 3 months old RZ424?! Any other ideas…is there a patch on the Internet?

Does your RZ have Norton Firewall (Internet Security) on it though? I was suggesting just to disable it completely because you shouldn’t really need it if you only ever connect from behind a router. However even if you do want to keep it on, try disabling it just quickly to see if your e-mail works OK. The fact that you can connect and browse web pages from what I understand shows that there isn’t anything wrong with the laptop so if it’s working on another machine then it has to be a setting on your new laptop somewhere. Just a matter of narrowing it down.

Ok thanks! Norton is on the desktop as well so it must just be a setting or Windows update I need. There’s an article on ‘Sony Support’ which talks about ‘Background Intelligence Transfer Service Update’, which shows the MS site but not the specific page to download the update or patch?! Anyone else downloaded this, know a URL or experiencing the same problem? Thanks!
