Just tonight my VGN-T270p’s keyboard stopped working properly.  A number of keys, including u, i, o, p, j, k, l, and maybe a couple others send different characters to the computer, i.e. typing “u” gives me a “4” instead.  My external keyboard works just fine.  Any ideas?  If anybody has experienced anything like this please let me know!!!  I’m hoping there is an easy fix to this problem.  Thanks.

Welcome to the forum.

Press your NumLk key.  When you press this key the right side of your keyboard works like a numeric keypad.

thanks!!!!!  i feel kinda foolish now but am glad to hear my keyboard isn’t broken.  i bought this one used on ebay a couple weeks ago and was worried i got a lemon.

It’s a common confusion.  Probably everyone that’s had a notebook hits this unfortunate confusion at some point.
