I did it. Took the plunge and ordered a UX50 from Japan. It should arrive in 5-7 days and I’ll post a review here after i’ve had a couple of days to play, i mean work with it.

You’re lucky, I want one too! But the only problem I have with the UX is the 512Megs of RAM… it’s just too little, considering it is Visa Ready, or whatever…

512MB ram has never really worried me. I’ve been running XP on computers with only 256MB for ages and they’re fine. 512MB or 1GB don’t show up to me as a real world differnce if that makes sense. I mean when i’m running photoshop CS2 sometimes it might lag a little between files but it’s only a couple of secinds and honestly I can wait. I don’t get frustrated that easily . You’re talking to someone who’s used to hour long renders of video effects, and day long renders of 3D stuff so you develop patience
I’m also not expecting the UX50 to do all my heavy graphics work. The occasional boot up of photoshop etc to do some quick fixes or that sort of thing will be fine for me (that’s why I have a powerbook)
