wondering…

is there a pentium m that clocks any faster than my 1.0?
at least one that would fit my x505 /sp chipset???

i am so into this notebook that it would be nice to add some
missing links… bluetooth!

would it be reasonable to add internal bluetooth???
or would it be too much of a hassel to find the
correct hardware???

is there an extended capacity battery?
(i couldnt find one)
or are these 2hr rods my only hope?

I’m pretty sure the CPU is not easily removed and that internal BT isn’t pre-wired so that would involve something completely custom. As for the battery, I haven’t seen an extended one offered just yet.

are you familar with the x505 motherboard?
could i acctually superimpose some of the circutry
from an external bluetooth adaptor, or prehaps some
circutry from an already imbedded notebook bluetooth?
im not too keen on hardware, just exploring my
options… seeing whats clever!

about the processor… they really make it hard to

the x505 is one of a kind…
it doesnt have an optical drive
but the need for media has really become obsolete.
that makes way for using smaller notebooks…

sony should push to popularize the x505
chipset- the pentium m is exactly what sony should
invest its time and effort in… correct me if im wrong
but capacity is directly effected by how much heat
a processor gives off…

can someone familiar with the future marketing
of ultra portables please post some information
pretaining to where the pentium m falls into place?

The processor cannot be upgraded in the X505.  It is soldered directly to the motherboard (there is no socket, unlike all desktop and many notebook computers).

Further, only the ultra low voltage Pentium M’s would work in the X505, the fastest released being 1.2GHz (the fasted Sony ever released in the X505 was 1.1GHz). With only passive cooling, I have reservations that a X505 could handle anything faster than a 1.1GHz processor (my X505ZP can get fairly toasty when I do anything processor or graphics intensive).

Search the X505 pages on the forum. There was a thread posted some time back that gives instruction for opening the X505.  The motherboard is truly tiny and I doubt there is anything that can be upgraded (especially considering there would be no space to place any additional components).
