I assume you’re looking at the 1000 model. It sounds nice but I’m iffy on the battery life of this device (which may or may not be important to you). It essentially says that it can get up to 5 hours if you swap out the optical drive and put in a second battery which will likely make the device heavier. So, assuming you need the six-cell which makes it 3.75 lbs, the second battery will likely push this device over 4lbs.
So, it falls somewhere in between a TX and a SZ. Oddly enough, the SZ has a bigger screen and is lighter than this 1000 model and gets more or less the same battery life using only one standard battery.
I’m sure the price will likely be better than Sony so it’s something to consider.
If you’re not in a hurry, I’d wait a little longer (maybe end of this year) as Intel will finally get around to releasing a ULV Core Duo processor. Even if the speed is the same as now (1.1-1.3) having dual cores will make things pretty nice.
