For my first post i decided to post something interesting
I tried to overclock a Vaio T1XP (1.1 ULV) to 1.2 and after some test it work great   :D
I think the PM can go highter :twisted:
I need to test the stability a bit more

If you are interested i can post a little how to (It’s simple and safe)

Ok here is a little tutorial

The fequency of the PM is determine by FSB x Multiplier
The Multiplier is adjust by Intel Speed step to underclock the processor when all the power is not needed (Dynamic switching)
The Multiplier max is 11 at this level the processor is 1091.8 Mhz

To overclock this Pentium you need to adjust the FSB
Download SetFSB http://www13.plala.or.jp/setfsb/
The ics clockgen of the T serie is 950819 so the good version of SetFSB is i855GMEm Ultra Version 1.5e
Then download SpeedswitchXP http://www.diefer.de/speedswitchxp/
Now to overclock you need to set SpeedswitchXP to Max Performance so the Multiplier will be 11 all the time then use SetFSB
Configure it to “VGN-B90PS” “Ultra” and click on GetFSB then chose 108 for the FSB and click on SetFSB

That’s all your Vaio T 1.1 is now 1.2

Sweet! I’m running my Pentium M processor 1.60GHz (1588 MHz) at 1909 MHz . :twisted:

How does temperature and battery life change due to this?

Could we do that on tr ?

The CPU temp is roughly 2 ºC higher when overclocked. I didn’t see any difference in my HD temp. The VGN-B100 is currently my desktop (it stays on & docked 24/7) so the battery life doesn’t really matter to me.

Would this work on the S series? (S170)

This method doesnt increase the cpu voltage so there is no problem with the temp
It can work on any laptop with an ICS compatible with SetFSB

Does that includ the Tr?

Anyone tried it? did it work with the TX’s ULV chip?  I have the 1.3Ghz version.  Which one to download?  Mlouie?  anyone?  8)

I’m pretty much of a novice here to know what I’m doing.  I was going to experiment later when I have time, but I was actually hoping someone else would post for the 1.2 Ghz version.

This method work with all the T series (1.1 or 1.2)
For the TX you need to know what is the ICS chip
To do that you have 2 choice read the Service Manual of your model
or open your unit
Then check if the chip is supported

Well according to the specs the TX 770P uses 915GMS chipset
and on Intel website this is the info about the board, and also the processor
that i have is Pentium M 773 (1.3Ghz)

I tried it on my T250 and so far it runs steady at 1.4 Ghz instead of 1.2 Ghz. What is the safest max speed that people overclock for something like this?

Also right clicking on My Computer does not show any increase.

Seems kinda unstable and gives serious errors and loss of sound on my T250.

First the 915 Intel chip is not the ics clock chip :wink:
you need the service manual or open your vaio

For instability you need to test (I have the same problem with the sound)
but if you have to increase the FSB with the max multiplier it work better
