Sorry, miss perception on my last post.
What I mean is due to you can’t get BT module for your TR, the simple alternative is using BT PCMCIA. Just plugged in PCcard slot.
Or, you can take out the module from BT USB (prefer Billionton) then soldering on USB port. You sacrifice 1 USB port for the BT port.

The retractable antenna protrudes about 0.5 millimeter or 0.05 centimeter.

This one is flush…I had a lot of problems with it in my U until they updated their software, now it works with everything I throw at it.

Can someone w/ one of these PCMCIA units, Billionton or Socket, comment on battery life when these units are plugged in.

I’ve thought about one of these as a cheap (although, the socket is not cheap) and quick BT solution w/ my S270P until I upgrade to a SZ or whatever comes out in 2007 w/ Vista.

I don’t need BT that much, but I would like the ability to turn the card off (which not sure if you can w/ these) when not in use to conserve battery life.

Anybody familiar w/ these have battery life comment or answer on whether they can be turned off via software ?

I haven’t noticed a difference with it (socket) installed in my U. I don’t remember seeing an option to turn it off without removing the card, but it might be possible. Yes, the socket isn’t cheap, the only real advantage is that it’s flush…depending on how much looks matter to you depends on how much you want to spend.

Thanks…I may consider the socket then…if I remember correctly, it’s only a 3v setup (cf + the adapter), but the billionton is 5v…I think it’s 5v in order to get the full class 1 power and range…that billionton is good for 100m, whereas the socket is only 10m class 2 (may have my class numbers backwards)...but I don’t need range, just need it for my phone, mouse, and gps…also good to know it doesn’t impact battery life that much.  That was pretty much my only concern.

so.. it’s either BT.. or the SE EDGE GPRS card… i’d rather let the super slim USB BT dongle hang outside…
