ATI just released their monthly Catalyst Drivers at version 6.4. To my knowledge, this the first version that actually installed on my VAIO S170P (ATI Radeon Mobility 9700) without complaining and without me needing to hack the INF files to get it to work.
Actually, all I did was unpack the latest version and upgrade my driver with the new files installed and with my regular Display Control Settings and tabs intact. I like staying away from the Catalyst Control Center since it’s a big memory waste.
So, if you have one of these models with the ATI graphics then you may want to upgrade. Of course, if it’s not broken…don’t fix it. Do a system restore backup or a real backup before installing as always….
