Okay, hopefully u are an expert on getting a TR(1-5) XP home working as an XP PRo. I did an “upgrade” from stock home XP to XP SP2 PRO, now with all the annoying updates loaded, plus, drivers from Sony Download Taxi for the TR31AP, which was shipped as an XP PRO machine. All is working but two devices, the TouchPad and the MEM stick reader, not that I really care about the latter, but I would like to get rid of these 3 errors as seen in the event viewer:
3RD ERROR
The device 'Generic volume' (STORAGE\RemovableMedia\7&83ae324&
0&RM) disappeared from the system without first being prepared for
removal.
2ND ERROR
The device 'Sony MSC-U04 USB Device' (USBSTOR
\Disk&Ven_Sony&Prod_MSC-U04&Rev_3.00\0052466130829312&0)
disappeared from the system without first being prepared for removal.
1ST ERROR
EThe device 'Sony Memory Stick Reader/Writer' (USB\Vid_054c&Pid_
014d\0052466130829312) disappeared from the system without first being
prepared for removal.
In Device Manager the only thing strange is this:
Universal Serial Bus controllers
!(yellow) Sony Memory Stick Reader/Writer
SO how do I troubleshoot this one? I tried deleting the device, reinstalling the driver, not sure it’s the right one however. (please provide the exact driver info for winxp pro sr2)
NEXT,
and more importantly, the touchpad is inop and there are no errors in device manager or event log, but i don’t see anything under mice, just 1 HID-compliant Mouse, working properly. Should I have something else here to run the touchpad? What do I check for?!? How can I rule out a hardware failure vs. software driver snafu here? I did have this TR3 in a dozen pieces after the OS install…..
Thanks folks!!!!
