A friend gave me his old PCG-TR5AP with a busted LCD screen so I’d like to get that replaced and upgrade the hard drive is possible.
What’s the current rate for LCD screens and where does the group suggest purchasing from. I’ve searched the forum and found several sites and prices, but wanted to make sure the info I have is current.
It looks like either the Sharp LQ106K1LA01 or the Sony A-8068-213-A will replace my screen. Tiger direct, ScreenTek and MemorySales can all get them or have them, ranging from $359 to $455. Is the Sharp a direct replacement with the same XBRITE technology?
Also, again, searching turned up that the TR5AP has a 1.8” 4500rpm drive. It would be nice to upgrade to a larger disk (40gb currently installed), but no idea what the going rate for drives is.
I found instructions for screen replacement, so I’ll be tearing the screen apart tonight to see what I find before ordering a replacement.
