I want to update my TR2AP1 to a newer BIOS, as per this thread:

Can a TR3A owner send me the extracted BIOS file from Sonys updater?

Also as per that thread, I would no sooner put a BIOS that was explicitly meant for a more recent model onto my computer than I would put an engine management chip in my 2002 car that was meant for the 2004 model. I don’t think it’s very likely that Sony would actually write code to stop you installing an updated BIOS on your computer.

Luckily Chris, no one is asking you to install anything.
Im not sure what you mean with regards it being “unlikely Sony would write code to stop an installation”, that is exactly the problem, the Installer scans the system and aborts. 

In the original thread, someone has done it and it worked out fine and fixed some issues.
