I just picked up a 512MB upgrade from Kingston for $195, so that would be a good place to check if you’re wary of eBay. Now if only I could find some disassembly and RAM installation instructions…

:evil: it was just a little more than a week ago that there was a flurry of posts in the yahoo group about the price of tr1 memory, and from what i recall the price range was 325-400+ usd.  now in this forum we have 2 posts of 200. i can’t BELIEVE that mem prices have dropped that much in 2 weeks.  what’s going on here?

It’s possible that the price could have dropped with availability from other vendors. Such is the nature of the beast…

We’ll have to see how well these other modules do and hope they don’t cause the freezes/weirdness that some people experienced with non-Sony upgrades.

$200 does seem like an extremely good deal…but it’s suspiciously low. Or, it’s just simply an extremely good deal…it happens from time to time. I got a new enhanced battery for $250 (although the price has gone up to $278 now which is still good.) so that’s not too bad considering the list price of $349.

Competition. Being on the bleeding edge is expensive. You knew that once a major memory manufacturer started making TR-compatable memory, the prices would go down to reasonable levels. Except of course for Sony… 

thats why i just bought the tr2ap3 model it seemed like a good way to get cheaper sony memory it was $200 more instead of adding it for 499.

I ordered a stick of 512 from this seller a little over a month ago.  Very quick with his emails and super fast shipping.  CA to FL in about 3 days.  Nice.  Oh yeah, the RAM works great, no issues at all.

you just need to spend a little time looking for cheaper options for memory. the chheapest now is ksy-u101/512 @$195
