Hey guys, got the TR2A and was hoping for a good BT solution.  I have read groovyone’s review of the Sony USB BT dongle, it looks very cool, but still sticks out too much for me.

I have the Socket CF Bluetooth card which is flush with my PocketPC, doesnt stick out.  They sell an upgrade kit which includes the PC card adapter and the drivers for XP.  Anyone use the Socket card?  Just curious how the software compares to the Sony software.

I would be interested in any other experiences with other PC BT card solutions, as this seems to the the only way to integrate BT all the time without having something sticking out or having to carry a dongle.  I was hoping to use the PC card slot as a memory card reader, but oh well.

I have used the Socket BT adapter with the TR and it sucks. Well, it does provide decent serial/dial-up services but it doesn’t support HID devices which defeats the purpose for me. It doesn’t sit flush either…if you use their CF PC Card adapter. I used a Sandisk one which allows the device to sit flush.

So, if you only need it for connectivity to a phone then it’s ok. However, if you want to connect BT peripherals to your TR then forget it. Socket doesn’t seem interested in offering any sort of update currently.

I’m looking for others to test but most of them stick out with large antennas.

That’s sad to hear gr00vy0ne.  Socket is making me pay $33 to get the upgrade kit, problem is I already have a Sandisk CF to PC card adapter so all I need is the XP drivers and BT software.  I have scoured the internet looking for the software, but cannot find it.  If anyone knows where to download the Socket XP drivers/software let me know please.

Overall I am not thrilled with the Socket card on my Pocket PC, but its main appeal is that it sits flush and does not stick out.  Hopefully I can find the XP drivers and find a 3rd party BT program.

The Sony software sounds much better, can it be used with a PC BT card?  Can it even be purchased separately?

Are there any 3rd party bluetooth software solutions?  There has to be something.

Darn, I thought it was a link for the Socket XP drivers, got overly excited…

Finally found the drivers and BT software, but the drivers are for the Socket CF card “F” and before.  Wouldnt you know it, I have “G” version.

So if anyone has the “G” card all I need is the .inf file for the driver installation.

OK after ordering and receiving the upgrade kit from Socket I am having the same problem, only a “F” revision driver.  Their tech support is not responding.  Anyone have a “G” windows XP driver available?  I only need the .inf file.

For those of us that are struck with fear at the prospect of opening up our TR - which bluetooth PC cards have people used?

My main priorities are ease of use and a card that is flush with my TR (I don’t want anything that sticks out). I see the comments above that GrOOvyOne wasn’t happy with the Socket solution, has anyone tried the Belkin or any other type that they’ve been satisfied with?

I had used the TDK card before I modded my TR with the internal bluetooth, this card is GREAT, highly recommended.  I have it still if anyone wants to buy it.  But it does stick out, which I think contributes to its phenomenal range.

By the way Socket has written up brand new software using BlueSoleil as their base software, supposed to be pretty good and will be released soon with their full package BT card.  They offered me a free upgrade to the software, but I sold the card long ago.
