I’m still waiting for a T or TX series to reach a higher processing speed. I currently use the TR3A series with 1Gig of RAM. I have Desktopsidebar (wish it went horizontal instead of just vertical), Word, MS Outlook, Norton Systemworks, Adobe Pro, Winamp, AIM, MSN, & Firefox (with tons of tabs) open all at once. I find that having all these programs open slows down my system to a “significantly” annoying degree.

Will a system running at 1.6 GHz, like the S series with the same amount of RAM, help alleviate this “annoyance”? Any comments?

Nope, T and TX run ULV processors and the latest is 1.2GHz
I think it also depended on Intel. If they will release new ULV processor, T and TX will have new processors.

You’ll also most likely have to wait for the ULV version of Yonah since the first version that comes out will be for desktop replacement type (DTR) laptops or larger sized notebooks.

The ultraportables will require a cooler running chip. FWIW, Yonah ULV chips will come out at 1.06 and 1.2GHz initially (2Q06) and they’ll only be single core. The dual core versions aren’t expected until the second half of 2006. LV versions will be 1.5-1.83Ghz but are unlikely to be used in ultraportables.

So, don’t expect faster clock speeds in the next generation. You’ll be getting better overall performance at the same clock speed so it’s less important.

Hmmm… I don’t know what to do. I think the size of the TR or TX series is just perfect. I don’t want to get something slightly larger like the S series. But then I’m finding that I DO need a faster machine now.

Oh no, meaning there is just a slight difference between Dothan and Yonah processors?  Geesh..  :?
