have heard about the big difficulties upgrading the TR series (as all Vaio NBs) to a different than the delivered OS. Is that true and if yes do somebody have links where to download drivers?

Win2k3 uses the same driver model as WinXP, so it should be possible if you check out the instructions on upgrading to XP Pro . Just out of curiosity, what would you use 2k3 server on the TR for?

Yeah, I have the same question. SBS2003 dones’t seem like the best OS to run on a TR.

I might be wrong but last time I checked Windows 2003 doesn’t have any bluetooth support unlike XP. You might want to bare that in mind if you have a TR with inbuilt bluetooth or a seperate bluetooth dongle.

If you really need it I’d recommend running it in a virtual machine. If you have the money for 2003 server on a laptop then you can get a virtual machine too :wink:

OK I stand corrected then. I couldn’t get the Z1 to support bluetooth with Windows 2003 Server. Not that I was worried as I didn’t plan on running it long term, I just wanted to see if it could be done more than anything.

Windows XP has a hotfix which enables it’s bluetooth stack, I’m sure at the time I tried it there was no hotfix for bluetooth for 2003 server. Some dongles have their own bluetooth stack and hence don’t require support from MS but Sony’s dongle and internal bluetooth do.
