I have the Sony TR2A from my friend. It was not working and he gave it to me so that i could use it for my school work, instead of trashing. I tried to debug the system. but the system always gets stuck at the post screen. I am not able to go to the Bios menu or to any other menus. So, i am assuming that the Bios is corrupted.

So, i will like to load a new BIOS and was wondering if anyone knew where i can find the latest BIOS for the TR2A. Also, since i am not able to access any devices (since it gets stuck at the post screen), i may have to solder the Bios chp out and resolder it back after flashing. Hopefully it works :(

Please anyone who knows the location to the bios, please point it to me.

How can you be so sure the bios is corrupt?

It could be something as simple as:

Memory bad
Memory DIMM needs reaseating.

These and many other issues would both give you the same symptom (Getting stuck at post screen).

wouldn’t you get an error message though if it was a mem or other card?  I know if the wifi is loose you get a resource allocation error. the fact that you can’t get to the bios screens sounds bad.

i have also gotton stuck at post because of USB conflicts too. well, good luck!

i already tried replacing the memory stick. The wireless and modem cards are disconnected from the system.

also, my friend who i got the system from, said that the system got locked while he was loading a new bios. so, am assumin that the bios is corrupted. just wanted to try loading a new bios before i do something else.

Well now u say!  Not sure if you can reflash bad bios without having the OS working, but the update.exe is on the sony download site for sure.  But it’s hard to find, it’s a shifting page: http://www.css.ap.sony.com/vaio
