Guest was about as rude as he could be. But after you get past that, he does have a point. Seat belt tickets are usually money but no points. From your post, I’m thinking you were pretty hot and the cop was trying to keep everything cool. He’s got a job to do. My advice is, pay the man and let it go. In today’s political climate, trying to fight a seatbelt ticket is like saying you are against Motherhood.

Does Gilbert realise the cost to taxpayers for medical care as a result of a person injured as a result of NOT wearing a seatbelt along with the administration costs?

The topic was closed and even then he continued to hide under a guest nickname and post nonsense. The tickets will be dismissed. The car wasn’t moving when they knocked on the window. You have to be moving and have another infraction in order to be “stopped” and citated for a seatbelt violation. The pigs also stated that I was moving with 10 mph, since they knew it wont fly if they put 0mph.

Assuming you live in CA, there’s nothing about moving in the law. The phrasing is “ operate a private passenger vehicle on the highway ”. “Highway” legally means public roads and explicitly includes the street. That’s the case in New York too, as a friend of mine was given a citation at a stop light. From what I remember, you said that you pulled out onto the road and the cop had a buddy (ie. a witness to back him up).
