XP Interface Question: any way to clean up All Programs display?  It seems the order is last installed, which is pretty silly. I would rather have it alphabetical. So what to do?

open up the All Programs menu > right click somewhere on the list > click ‘sort by name’ to make it alphabetical

if you want to move things into different folders, you can drag and drop things on the start menu itself, or you can open up the Start Menu folder and move around the folders inside it

Thanks joe, that’s what I would have thought, but right clicking just produces a flash then nothing.  :cry:  I though it might be windowblinds, but after unloading i get the same thing.  Hmmm…. maybe I’ll start up in safe mode and see what happens…is there another alternative?

hmm weird, on every system i’ve ever owned it’s allowed me to right click :?

this won’t help with getting things in alphabetical order, but to extend what i said earlier, you can re-organise your start menu by opening the right folder (in my case it’s C:\Documents and Settings\Joe\Start Menu) then edit or create folders with your shortcuts in - from my All Programs list I just have Accessories / Audio / Games / Imaging & Design / Internet / Media Sharing / Security & Utilities - and then each of those has sub menus leading to the relevant progs :D

this is probably stuff you already knew, but I’m afraid I don’t know of any programs that’l help organise your start menu, so it’s the best I could think of suggesting

Make sure you are also right clicking on a folder name not a blank open space within the start menu, otherwise it will just flash and do nothing
