Hey guys, decided to go smaller…. S360P comes with orginal docs, box and so forth. I have also made recovery disc (7 CD’s). Pent- M 1.7, Centrenio, 80G, 512ram (up to 2GB), CD burner 24x, ATI 9700 VRAM, XP PRO SP2, 13.3” Xbrite Screen, 4lbs.

Battery life with current setup is 6.5 hrs. Battery has been used 4 times, otherwise plugged in. There is no battery ware.

The laptop has no marks, no dead/off pixels, no scratches, no nothing! This item is bascially brand new. I will provide CHC software for ultimate control on the CPU/Video card/battery life?

You may want to provide exact specifications to what you are selling. The model number only tells part of the story. CPU, RAM, HDD, optical drive, etc. will help people decide.

You are correct, however, the S360P has the ATI 9700 dedicated video card, and definitely longer battery life.
Using the CHC, you get the ultimately in flexibility to match your needs at any given time. The newer series are all using Gefore cards that are NOT dedicated video and using the processor which requires a tad bit more voltage, hence the lower battery time.

There is always a trade off.

This statement is incorrect. At least compared to the S5xx series. I also prefer ATI, although in this case it is the same difference. I wil be surprised if this laptop sells for over 1000$

As much I understand your desire to recover what you’ve paid for it, there is no way it will happen, especially with the conventional models (S, A, FJ, K)

SubNotebooks are easier to recover, since they are still considered cool.

I’ve paid around $3000 for my TR a year and a half ago and was able to sell it for $2000 last month, which is still at thousand bucks loss.

It is your call. I know she has been looking at some T43 at that price yesterday.

I’ve shopped extensively over the last few weeks, I think 1200 is fair, these units are going (refurbed) on UBID for well over that, even the S1XX series is going for over $1200.  I really never found an ebay deal for less than this either…it’s a good deal considering the condition of the notebook (assuming the condition from the posts and picts).

This unit is still under warranty and only 2 months old, and (again, according to the post) no dead pixels, which is a huge plus to have had someone already look at that and not have to deal w/ a dead-pixel policy on a new or refurbed unit.

Anyway…you really cannot compare this deal to one a year ago, or when there may have been rebates or instant rebates available…what it sold for yesterday doesn’t count, what the going selling prices are here and there TODAY are what counts.

WHEN did you get that info from Anandtech, not a single hit right now for this unit there, or even a hit for VAIO, and Sony only hits a couple of optical drives…I think this is OLD information at best, and probably a closeout, rebate, etc, to get that price…again, can’t compare yesterday to today…

If you’ve got a 1950/1960 era Ferrari handy, I’ll gladly pay your a few thousand for it…

...and before you go shooting holes in that analogy, my point is not that the S260P is a collectors edition, my point is that people (because of this forum) are looking for these units as opposed to the newer, more expensive, S4XX/S5XX units that have issues…so there is a higher demand…

...had the S2XX and S3XX series not had issues w/ the ATI graphics card and not booting, I would jump on this for $1200.  I can’t take the chance, need something more proven and solid.

It was around $1030 refurb at sonystyle just a week ago.

A year ago it was around $650 with the rebates.

That is beyond the point. If he is able to get $1200, great he should go for it, even though I think it is unreasonable.

People will be reluctant to buy the older series because of the slower bus, and the expensive memory. It is not a car, it is technology that turns into crap just few months after it’s been released. That’s my 2 cents.

I have a S3xx at work and I am happy with it, so don’t get me wrong. It is a wonderful laptop.

If you have the impression that you will have less problems with the T that you bought, I must say that you are dead wrong here. With all the current problems with the Ts, it is most likely you will replace/send it back at least once. The unsealed lcd package, the not so “good” hard drives, the 755s/822s not reading dvd’s, the jumpy touchpad are just a bunch of things that might create a living hell. I owned a 250 and a 350. the 250 had drive issues and some long hair got underneath the LCD glass of the 350….

I don’t mean to scare you, but be prepared. Backup your data and buy extended warranty if you got that refurb.
