TR3A… recovery from USB drive?

Sorry if this is already answered somewhere but did a search…

Trying to avoid the hassle of the pile of CD recovery discs for my newly-purchased TR3A… is it possible to create the recovery files on a USB hard drive and do the recovery from there? or at least do some of it from there after, say, one boot CD?
