Googling through the net, I noticed that there has been reports by users about how the program shortcuts on their VAIO Launcher stopped working; programs do not launch when clicked on in VAIO Launcher.
Today, the same thing happened to me, and I traced it down to what I am pretty sure is the problem (and the solution):
Bottom line is: if your VAIO Launcher suddenly doesn’t launch any programs when clicked, it is probably due to an application you’d recently installed which has added new entries to the context-sensitive menu.
For some reason, the context-sensitive menu (the one you get when you right-click a shortcut or file) affects how VAIO Launcher works. I installed a batch renaming software which added some entries to the context-sensitive menu. After this, none of the program shortcuts in VAIO Launcher worked anymore.
I uninstalled the program, and everything was back to normal.
I had actually noticed this strange relationship between VAIO Launcher shortcuts and the context-sensitive menu when I used to have the “Move/Copy to Folder…” options enabled in the context menu. Back then, whenever I clicked on a program shortcut in VAIO Launcher, the “Move/Copy to Folder…” dialog box popped out.
Strange, but there it is. Hope this helps.
