Instead of getting a Sony DSC-T7 as a replacement for my T1, I realized it was paying for the same camera just with more style, so I decided to get a SLR or any other Pro-Enthusiast digital camera.  Yes I am a noobie in the professional aspect of photography, but have a strong interest.  I was looking into Sony cameras, being a Sony whore I am, and I came across the DSC-H1 compact and the Sony DSC-V3.  Anyone have any experience with either, or some others you all may encountered. 

Note:
-Will be using mainly for automotive photography including night shots.
-Price range: $600
-This would be a first time SLR type, so nothing fancy, I’ll get a Canon EOS when the time is right.

Also:
-What accessories may you suggest, only thing I can think of is a tri-pod, I yet to know what kind of optional lenses and filters to get. 
-What resolution are crisp flyer images and what resolution are magazine images?

I have a DSC-V1, an older, discontinued model.  I got it on ebay a while back .  I wanted a point and shoot with full manual controls and it fits the bill perfectly.  I would assume it’s successor, the V3, works well too.  I’d suggest looking at http://www.dpreview.com/ for extensive reviews and sample photos of the camera you’re interested in.

the h1 is great! i have it as well as the t7 and love them both. the t7 is much improved over the t1 (returned after a couple weeks of use due to the horrible low light pics) and is great for macro shots. they got rid of the redeye problem the t1 had as well as better low loght shots. the sony forum on dpreview has lots of user h1 info. cheers, art

wish i could afford having a t7 and a h1/v3 camera, but that wont be until a lil bit later.  hows taking pictures at night without optional accessories.

havent had alot of time to take night shots with the h1 yet but there are tons of h1 night pics on dpreview. as soon as i get back to the US i’ll take some and post them at arthurmlee.multiply.com

I am using V3 and I have no complaints.  8)  It’s not fully manual cos’ the focal length is preset ... but it’s fine for most shots. I bought V3 primarily b’cos I want an external hot-shoe flash and V3 is probably one of the smallest model available.

You can adjust the focal length ... just that it’s preset to 0.1m, 0.2m, 0.3m, 0.5m, 0.8m, 1.0m, 1.5m, 2m, 3m, 5m, 7m, 10m, 15m, infinity. It shd be good enuff for semi-professionals ...     

Well it looks like im getting the Sony DSC-V3.  I also bought the 0.7 Wide Angle Lens, 48mm to 58mm Lens adapter, Lightweight Tripod as well.  All Sony Genuine products   It was either this or a real DSLR, but the ones I wanted were the Canon EOS Rebel/Rebel XT.  Too much for that at the moment.

My cousins got that one and its a awesome cam. Except it being a bit big, there isnt anything that usually annoys him.
