I am curious what exactly takes place when the MS Pro firmware update is applied to a handful of Vaio notebooks. Does this actually flash a chip on the memorystick reader board? I ask because I have a vaio SRX77, which cannot be updated for memory stick pro. However, I recently replaced the palm rest, including the stick reader board with parts from an SRX87, which can be updated. If so, I would imagine it would be possible to hack the firmware updater to function on my SRX77. Can anybody offer any insight on this possibility?
