Well i dont know. I thought i’d get atleast 5 hours on full power. I spent about 250 $ on this thing. So, im getting about 3 hours on it. When you say calibration, what exactly do you mean ?

Also you got 4 hours doing what exactly ? Just internet or playing videos and such. What level of brightness did you use?

Well I get about that time doing basic things like Word, Internet, chat, etc… I usually have a lot of programs running, however, so my HD does get accessed a lot cause even my 768MB of ram doesnt do the job :?  (If there’s A LOT of HD access.. thats when I get towards 3-3:30 hours) ... and I never turn my brightness down unless i’m in the car at night.

So… considering that, your extended should be getting 5 unless your playing games or editing video/pictures for most of the time.

what about calibration ? would it probably be a bit better after a few charge cycles?

Well calibration is a nice fancy word that means letting ur battery run dead lol… u have to turn off the “hibernation at low battery” feature in order for it to fully calibrate though… or if you do it directly from BIOS it will just sit there with the BIOS screen for about 3 hours… 

Think ill do exactly that. The thing is, i got my battery in a sealed box so its hard to believe i’ve been burnt, besides the fact that the seller had excellent ratings. And also i’ve been getting about 4 hours on full power (monitor turns itself off in 2 mins) settings for the past 2 charges.

What usage do you get from the standard battery? A lot of battery life depends on what you’re doing while you’re using the machine (though 3hrs does sound a bit rubbish whatever you’re doing).

Was the one you bought on eBay a Sony one or another manufacturer’s one? New or used?
