I used to Hibernate my TR3A instead of shutting it down normally, for last few days when I wake it up from Hibernation it reached Login Screen and then Hibernates again automatically!
this happened to me also. i think you are telling the notebook to hibernate and then you are closing the lid too soon after. your notebook is likely set to hibernate when you close your notebook. you basically are telling the notebook to hibernate twice. that is why it hibernates again after resume. solution is to keep the notebook open for a few seconds longer after you hibernate or only close the lid to hibernate (not both)
Agreed with vitruvian. In my case, I hibernate when I push the power switch and suspend when I close the lid. If I close the lid too soon, the computer suspends, then hibernates the next time I turn it on. This could run down my battery, except I never go very long without using my lappy. I found the solution is to wait until the horizontal bar starts.
Also since we are talking about hibernation, I always have one doubt..
“To have a better Battery Life” is it better to shut down the Notebook or Hibernate it assuming in a day I work on it for 6 hours the pause of 1 hours and then another 6 hours and so on..
As far as the notebook’s hardware is concerned, shutting down and hibernation are basically the same. It’s basically a different way of booting Windows. Instead of booting and loading configuration files from scratch, it loads a saved memory image from disk. In both cases, the computer is off. It’s standby mode that uses minimal power but keeps the computer on.
As far as battery life, the only rule is don’t discharge the battery too much. Keep it over 20%, if you can. Also, the number of charge/discharge cycles is limited. But hey, it is a battery, right?
