Wanted to relay this. you can find in another post a message about my Tr1 freaking out. I finally gave up and called up sony. After several stages of customer service I finally got authorization to send back for repair.
They sent me a prepaid special box overnight
I sent the computer in and pleaded that they call me to discuss the problem. and they did
Turn around was 2 days and had it back 2 days later - total time away from me was 5 biz days - not bad.
Turned out to be bad memory - they had a device that checks memory and mother board.
The also fixed a bad ctrl key - seemed to replaced the whole keyboard. Also cleaned screen.
Very happy with service.
BTW - per suggestion here I bought a copy of drive image and using a 9gig drive in a $19 USB case (the 9gig drive came out of my original z505HS that I upgraded to 20g) I imaged my c drive - so when the machine came back I just restored the c and d drives and was back in biz in about 30 mins!
