I’m finding that different media player programs (WinAMP, Windows Media Player, and iTunes) handle ID3 tags differently. WinAMP allows you to have both ID3v1 and v2 tags and I wonder if that’s a good thing.
Windows Media Player seems to be the best at displaying different types of MP3s with great unicode support. However, iTunes and Winamp like to corrupt text or have trouble displaying it correctly. iTunes is extremely aggressive when it comes to changing file names without asking you and it’s extremely annoying. The weird thing is that in some cases, it will import files correctly without corrupting (say japanese text). Other times, it corrupts stuff so bad and it’s a pain to fix.
For people with multi-lingual audio libraries, what are you using? and how is it working out?
