I completlely fail to see how friggin Tiger Woods is a ‘geek’.

He has a video game?
He plays golf all day long?

Most geeks I know (self included) play golf because anyone can play, you don’t need to be a typical jock.

The only mention of anyone even resembling a geek in that article was the unnamed guy who watched Star Trek… and he is no longer involved with the interviewee.

tony hawk has a video game… he doesn’t seem very geeky to me? ditto w/ steve madden? or uhm..

it’s not like any of the guys mentioned were computer programmers, or data miners, etc.? i’m not convinced. heh… look at Bill Gates. true geek. and he’s got some boring jane-doe wife.

Not that I’m disagreeing but that’s such a poorly written article. Clumping in celebrities/persons of influence (regardless if they are geeks) with your typical nerd/geek is so off the mark.

Of course ladies will flock to a celebrity…even if it’s that skinny guy from Road Trip (DJ Squalls). And there are plenty of women who are attracted to guys with money/influence. These same women probably wouldn’t be attracted to your typical geek.

a friend…. he’s a serious geek.. $30K hifi stereo system, $10K DLP projector, nearly 1000 LPs/DVDs. 4 linux boxes, 2 laptops, blah blah blah. 3 pairs of merrel shoes (same exact style in d’frent colors), sr. software project manager… tal & lanky, etc.

yah. he gets no p00n. ppl hv been try to parlay geekiness into hipness for 10 yrs (think Dilbert). it’s never materialized. and it never will.

in my opinion, the author just tries to paralell certain things, the way he sees it.
personally, I see a geek person as more a ¨Bill Gates¨look alike.
