Not technically, the mouse, but the eraserhead.

It’s nice to have the middle button scroll feature, and I’ve read people’s post about the hardware requiring an applet of sorts, running in the background.

Problem: this does not work for me in mozilla (netscape, firefox, thunderbird, etc…)

Just wondering if there is a work around or an extension that might make this simple function possible.  I’ve been trying the following extensions: easygestures, Mouse Gestures, All-in-One Gestures
but have not been able to replicate the middle button “hold and scroll” functionality.

Any ideas?

If you can’t find a solution then you could always try Maxthon as your browser. It’s based on IE but adds some nifty built-in utilities. One of them is a button that automatically scrolls the page at specified speeds. You can also use the mouse to control the scroll speed once the button is pressed. It’s a handy feature for long reads.

actaully, why doesnt the middle button do anything? In firefox i always open links in new tabs by middle clicking them, but this doesnt work with the x505!!

I never knew middle clicking a link opens a new tab! Thanks for the knowledge.
