I’m considering the possibility of running a linux OS on my tr5, and i’m a complete beginner :oops:

my first worry is that I won’t be able to run adobe photoshop, and other programs such as macromedia dreamweaver.

Is there any way to get windows-based programs running in linux or should i stick with windows?

there is a Software called Wine which allows you to run some WindowsApps under Linux. Sometimes it can be really hard especially
when you’re new to linux.

You may want to check out this site:
 
which is a list of supported programs.

The other possibility is to run Windows on a Virtual Machine (like VMWare or Win4Lin) inside your Linux.

Or you could of course consider change to some alternative Linux Programs :D

A pure linux machine isn’t such a good idea if you are doing lots of internet content creation.  A dual boot might be a good idea.  Or if you just want to “test the waters” so to speak, why not try one of the many linux live cds first?  Finally, if you’re not attached to Photoshop, you can try using the open source equivalent, GIMP .
