I know it boots off my USB key. I’ll try the DVD Direct tonight and let you know.

Erik, how did you make your USB key bootable? I tried a lot with my USB drive, followed the instuction I found online, and even tried several .img or iso files with my USB key, but all failed. Actually, I also tried the USB CD-ROM, it also failed. I called dynamism and sony, they told me it was impossible to boot from USB since the X505 mainboard did not support the USB boot. But I know many illink device can boot the X505.

Erik, if you can boot your X505 from your USB key, can you give a instruction or upload the .img file here? It would be extremely useful.

Err…let me re-phrase it. I didn’t boot from the keydrive…but I couldn’t boot with it in, it said system disk error…so I assumed if it had a valid file it would boot.

I could not get the DVDirect to boot…

The USB key I used is the PQI Istick and it claims to be bootable.

IF you leave a USB key in the port, will your X boot? Mine wont.

Well, it was technically my fault because he had given me everything stated in the auction so he wasn`t in the wrong. But I was the best person to sell it to because I had no idea I needed all these things that weren`t included. Oh well, I`m just part of the stupid population haha
