after further inspection, i think i have one dead pixel and one lazy pixel…not sure what to do at this point. i may end up returning it.

okay, i’m going to try to exchange/return mine later tonight. here’s more information regarding dead pixels and how sony is responding…sounds like classic sony service to me.

No, but really, it a pixel that isn’t dead (off)... but it’s stuck on a color (usually white for the PSP).  So you can see it on during dark scenes or dark backgrounds.

i exchanged mine, and i got one dead pixel…smack dead in the middle of the screen. oh well…i’ll probably hang on to this one, or i’ll try to exchange it later. what i’m thinking of doing is calling sony out on this one and contact them in a week or two. if i can’t get rid of this one, i may just end up giving it to my brother or brother in law and get another one when the QA gets better.

No dead pixels here. Never exchanged my system for defects; My PSP was “born” perfect.

Mine developed a dead pixel last night…about a half week after purchase. I am getting a new one for the chip on my screen anyway, but it’s annoying how fragile these screens are.

wow! You know, I had to exchange my first DS because it got a couple dead pixels. That next one had a couple dead pixels and a loose hinge, too, but I never returned it because I decided to give it to my bro as a gift, which was about a month later before he got to open it for Christmas.

I later found a perfect DS at a different Wal-Mart Supercenter in my hometown. I really can’t believe this “dead-pixel epidemic”; it’s kind of crazy!

ive heard that jap PSPs have better screens, they use erm… cant remember, but they dont use the samsung ones, anyone heard of a Jap. PSP with dead pixels?

I thought the Jap version has more problems than the US version?

The japanese PSPs had more dead pixel issues than the american ones, along with hosts of other problems:  The square button issue, the randomly ejecting disk issue, etc.

oh bollocks, i really want a PSP, but i dont want any first release issues such as dead pixels and all the other crap you usually get with a new product.
When are new revisions coming out for both jap & us, cause in the UK they wont be out till july!

what does someone suggest a person like me do?

get a japanese one for use in the uk cos they are region 2 for films like the UK and us games work on them (i have wipEout Pure (us) and its super)

the dead pixel issue isn’t worth panicing about - mine has a couple, but they are so tiny - you really don’t see them - its not like dead pixels on a laptop (they are a lot bigger)

Lik Sang are offering psps at less than 150 quid - go get em floyd.
