For the bluetooth users out there, what dongles are you using. Is the Sony dongle worth the $99.00? I want to hear your opinions.

I’m a huge fan of the Sony dongle.  Most BT dongles on the market use the same chipset, so what you’re really looking at with the different products is industrial design and included software. To that end, the design of the Sony dongle perfectly matches the TR’s color scheme, it’s the smallest dongle on the market and the software it comes with is rock-solid. For me, that was worth the extra $50+. I had lots of problems with the Ambicom dongle.

The BlueSpace software makes setting your devices up and managing them a piece of cake, and as Drachen mentioned, it looks great as well. It’s ridiculous how small it is compared to other ones out there. I picked it up from Amazon for $84, so you can save a little off of Sony’s high pricing. In some cases paying the premium for going with Sony isn’t worth it, but this definitely is.

Slightly off-topic, but does anyone using it know if the Bluespace software with the Sony dongle supports HID (mouse/keyboard) profile yet?  The last version I saw didn’t - though it did have an icon for it in Bluespace it said it wasn’t supported if you select it.

Also do you still have to manually connect COM ports before doing anything that uses a BT COM port (such as sync’ing a phone)?

I’m not sure about the HID profile since I’m sticking with an RF mouse/kb, but you have to manually activate the serial/COM port to sync your phone/PDA up. (Just got done synching tomorrow into the T616)

For you guys with the Sony BT dongle, can you go into more detail about the software.  Specifically does it support audio gateway, which lets you use your laptop mic and speakers as a phone when you receive a call.  How about headset profile?  I have seen conflicting info about this.

Lastly, has anyone tried the Sony dongle with the BlueSoleil software from IVT corp?  Very very nice software.
