Has anyone out there used the recovery disc to reset their computer back to like new? I would like to know how effective it is and what you loose and what you manage to hold onto?

I did a recovery disc install a few days after I bought my TR to erase the Recovery Partition. You lose every piece of software you installed, your settings, user accounts, basically it’s back to a factory-fresh machine. It works well and the process is pretty easy, just a matter of inserting discs when the computer tells you to.

Do you mean you get a new pc with all the bits working like the camera etc and windows but without any programs you might have added later?
Does removing the recovery partition mean that you can’t use the recovery disc to do a factory reset again?

Yes, all the hot keys, camera, and Memory Stick slot work after doing a restore from the Recovery Disc set. After deleting the Recovery Partition, you can only do a restore from the discs, instead of directly off of the hard drive. The 5 gigs you get back is worth it though IMO.

That and it’s on one partition…well worth IMO as well.
