That article more than likely references a 2.5” drive, the 1.8” drives used in the TR haven’t even cracked the 100GB mark yet. That said, I’m still waiting for the 60GB drives to ship in volume so I can upgrade.

Yeah, don’t get too excited. It’s almost completely likely that it is a 2.5” drive. Toshiba will be releasing 80GB 1.8” at some point in 2005. Most likely in the very end of the year.

Clearance issues in other notebooks using 2.5” drives? Probably not. It’s likely an increase in areal density and not platters.

Again: 2.5” drives cannot be mounted in a TR (which uses 1.8” hard disks).

Has anybody upgraded their HDD in their TR or T yet? If so where did you get the HDD from (if poss in the UK), and do you have a guide as to how you installed it.

After the price of the 60GB Photo iPod dropped I purchased one and sucessfully switched the drive (the MK6006GAH) with the 40GB drive from the TR2.  The first time I powered up the iPod it reported Sony VAIO from the drive info which was amusing.  Both devices reformatted okay and have both worked for over two months now. I used guitar picks to open the iPod and followed the instructions posts on this board for the bluetooth upgrade to open the TR2.

Probualy end of next year i hope
