I just found this forum and it looks like I will get some good answers here. I currently own a Sony VAIO A-290 which I use as a desktop replacement. I really like the laptop especially the screen. I am sold on Sony products having come from an Apple 17” Powerbook and G5 iMac. I also own a VAIO Pocket and W-1 digital camera. I was thinking of purchasing a second laptop which I can use for travel or web surfing on the couch or outside. The A-290 is too big and heavy for this. It seems like the TR series is very popular. I saw an ad at newegg for a TR3 AP for $1,500. Since this will be a second laptop I do not want to spend a lot of money. The other option will be the new FS line which will be the same price. There is the FS 550 at amazon for $1,550 The FS has twice the hard drive space and a DVD burner. The other option would be a BTO FS computer for even less. Obviously the size of the TR is the main advantage. What would you do in my case. Thanks
it depends how sensitive you are to price. you really can’t go wrong with the tr. it’s a great value at $1500. i just referred a friend to the tr off of newegg. she loves it.
however, if you want more features, go with the s or fs series.
