Hey guys,
I was wondering if X505 would be able to accomodate more memory? I know my X505ZP has only one socket with 512 in it, as it says “on board”. Does it mean it was soldered? I know the CPU would support 1 gig of memory. Of course it is scary to open that “precious” (hint to the LOR  )...looking at the service manual, it does not look promising…. what do you think guys?
Well, after reading more about X505 and actually finally getting it into my hands I doubt the memory can be upgraded. The VAIO X505 is definitely a masterpiece!
Absolutely, it can not be upgraded. RAM is soldered direct to its motherboard. There is no any socket for any component to upgrade.
In addition, It can only be upgraded to 30G using MK3004GAL but I think this hard drive hard to find on market.
It is funny how you call it precious Actually it won’t be considered as a second generation, because 505 superslim series were introduced back when VAIO was born (back in 1995ish). There was an original PCG-505 (was very popular because of its size), then Z505, N505, V505 and X505. X505 is the slimmest of course, and I was wondering myself what the next 505 series would look like. I cannot imagine it being slimmer or paper thin  hehe but who knows… some day there will be something like that.
