I have on other notebooks (notably my PowerBook G3, where the loose hinge snapped the display cable), but VAIO hinges hold up over the years. My original VAIO laptop purchased in 2000 has been opened and closed thousands of times and the hinge is still stiff and grips as well as the day I bought it. I would avoid opening and closing it more than necessary, and if it’s not going to be in use for an extended period, leave the machine closed, so the cam assembly doesn’t have stress on it. It should be fine with normal usage though.
