I was wondering if any of you have any suggestions.  We just purchased a Directv Tivo unit that can record 2 channels at once and do all this other wonderful stuff.  I would like to record some of the shows that are stored on the Tivo and transfer them onto VCDs or DVDs.  What is the best way I can transfer these shows to the TR for later editing/burning?  Does anyone have any experiences with the USB or 1394 capture boxes out there?  I’m looking for a really good hardware capture box and not just a TV tuner module that uses software to encode.  Thanks for your time, and Happy Late New Year!

was just taking a look at some units on eBay and ran into this   Do you guys think something like this would work well with the TR?  I would probably leave that little box right by the tivo and just bring my TR over and hookup the USB cable when I want to transfer some video.  If it really hardware decodes to DVD/VCD/SVCD well, it may be a good solution.  Anyone have any experiences with units like this?  I was also looking at the Dazzle Hollywood DV bridges but that just pretty much converts the video to DV format.  I’d rather have the unit convert it straight to the format I am going to burn, to save encoding times.  Thanks.
